Amber Woodward

Amber Woodward has been practicing as a professional artist and has been in education for over 24 years. Originally from the east coast, she came to California in 2001 and started showing her work in San Francisco, San Jose, Hollister, Gilroy and San Juan Bautista. She has taught in public middle schools, high schools and at the college level. She has also been a site administrator and served as an assistant director at the district level. Her life long passion has been finding opportunities, specifically CTE (Career and Technical Education) pathways that benefit all students. In 2019, Amber Co-Authored the CA VAPA state standards in Sacramento, and started to explore options more seriously for creating more options within a school day for students to find their own passions. Professionally, she currently works as a CTE program specialist in the bay area and serves as a mentor coach to administrators clearing their Admin credentials.

Her areas of art expertise include photography, ceramics, painting, digital design and mixed media. She also likes to overlay historic photographs into acrylic, oil media pieces. Her most recent work is described as ‘assemblage’ which includes photography that is overlayed with found objects in a unique mixed media style not seen very often in the art world. She has also been painting larger scale abstract landscape paintings frequently with background texture or overlays.

When not working in CTE or creating art, Amber is a mother and partner to a wonderful family. She loves to swim, paint, garden, travel and is pursuing her Ph.D. focusing on equity, inclusion and career and technical education.

Representation

Amber is passionate about accessibility for students with disabilities, English Language Learners and is fulfilled in her current work.
